Quick trip to Venice before a week in Tuscany with a Robert St John group.
My sisters and I used The Italian Concierge to help with hotel, tours and transfers. https://theitalianconcierge.com/
Megan is the owner. She went to Ole Miss and lives in Charleston SC but originally from Mississippi.
Our hotel was the perfect location and very cozy! The windows to our room opened up to the canal. https://www.hotelaicavalieri.com/it/
Lunch the first day was Beccafico Guna. We had a delicious salad and pizza. We explored Venice before our early evening gondola ride. It’s an extremely touristy thing to do but something you feel like you have to do.

We had dinner reservations for Harry’s Bar. We decided to just go there to have their “famous’ Bellinis. I opted for the delicious non alcoholic one! We then ditched those dinner reservations and went where our hotel recommended! Antico Pignolo.

Friday
We had a quick breakfast at hotel to get ready for our 3 island tour.

We met our tour guide Juliet in our hotel lobby at 9 and headed out through the Venetian Lagoon. First stop was Murano. We loved the glass blowing demonstration. We enjoyed our tour so much. There is a lot of pressure to buy and they do have beautiful pieces! They are many many dupes in Venice and all over. Then on to Burano. It is a darling small island with colorful houses. The homes are painted bright colors so fisherman knew how to find their way home at night in the fog. It is famous for the handmade lace but that art is dying. The 3rd island was connected by a bridge and there is a vineyard there plus a Michelin restaurant. It’s called Mazzorbo.

Lunch was delicious at Antico Gatoleto. We had more pizza and bruschetta! Followed by a gelato at Gelateria Ducale. When looking at gelato places be sure to find one where the gelato is natural colors. The ones with bright colors are not the real deal!

We stumbled across “The most Beautiful Bookshop in the world” It is called Libreria Acqua Alta. Ahttps://www.libreriacqualta.it/en/ Alot of books are in canoes or gondolas in case of flood they can move them quickly.

Dinner was absolutely delicious. This is a mother and daughter owned restaurant! The lasagna and agnolotti were delicious. We loved the caprese salad and stuffed fried zucchini flowers also.
