Where Historic meets Hip
We needed a quick long weekend trip so we decided on Charleston SC! Our friends Donna & Ford Terry joined us.
It was magical at Christmas time. It did rain but we had raincoats and our lovely hotel provided umbrellas. ☔️
We stayed at The Fulton Lane Inn. https://fultonlaneinn.com/
It’s a great small hotel and they bring you breakfast to your room each morning. It’s very cozy and convenient.

We ate at 167 Raw https://www.167rawoysterbar.com/ for lunch right when we got there! It’s across the street from FLI.

We walked to the Waterfront Park and explored.

We walked to the Mill House https://www.millshouse.com/and had coffee in the lobby at The Black Door Cafe. It’s a great lobby and cute coffee shop.

We went to the Americans Garden before dinner. It was fabulous. Live music, lights, carousel, coffee bars, etc. The next night it was closed due to rain, so we’re thankful we got to go the first night we were there.

Dinner that night was at Fig (have to get reservations 2 weeks out). It is a Michelin star restaurant and was outstanding. Our waiter was Moss and he made the night with his recommendations! Fig was a 20/10! Highly recommend.

Friday
We walked to Charleston Place Hotel to see the lobby and the famous train set.

We got an uber to Sullivan’s Island to eat at The obstinate Daughter (reservations 2 weeks out) . It’s worth the ride! https://www.theobstinatedaughter.com/. It has Michelin star and James Beard awards! We then walked to the beach and saw a very interesting lighthouse. It’s the shape of a triangle.

We did the Art Walk at 5. It’s the first Friday of each month. There are soo many art galleries and all having open houses. We then got to our dinner reservation at Sorelle but had the date wrong (😫) but we pivoted and went to Pearlz Oyster Bar. It was very local and very good. We then hit a jackpot at Carmella’s https://carmellasdessertbar.com/. Highly recommend!

Saturday we had a carriage ride booked with Palmetto Carriage Company. It is touristy but fun and you learn some interesting facts about Charleston .

We had reservations at 82 Queen for lunch but had an hour and a half to kill so we went to Gibbes Art Museum. https://www.gibbesmuseum.org/ We got to see an amazing Rembrandt exhibit! Rembrandt: Masterpieces in Black & White Prints from the Rembrandt House Museum.

82 Queen was a great brunch stop.
We did some shopping up and down King Street. Love the local store called Candlefish!

Sorelle for Dinner ! 20/10 stars 🌟 https://www.sorellecharleston.com/. (2 weeks out reservation) It was highly recommended and we loved Lucy our waitress. It’s a must!
