We looked high and low for a place our large family could go for a vacation! It’s very hard to gather everyone together and agree on where to go! From Costa Rica to Pacific NW to Michigan, we finally decided on the mountains of North Carolina. Everyone could drive except for our son who lives in NW Colorado. We picked him on the way at the ATL airport.
We found a house big enough for us that also had a pond. We loved it and enjoyed it so much! Here is the link. https://t.vrbo.io/QnlO4XQEPKb
Our family is a high activity family! Not much sitting around! The men planned golfing twice at the local semi-private course. The ladies planned a morning at the Old Edwards Inn and Spa. The rest of the time we enjoyed family hikes and picnics. We also enjoyed the local rec center pickleball courts and pool. Also 2 fly fishing guides were booked to fish one morning. Downtown Highlands has a botanical garden that my 3 year old grandson loved running around. https://highlandsbiological.org/botanical-garden/
Our family has 3 June birthdays so we planned to have a private chef one night. We grilled out burgers and steaks and also made home made pasta one night! We played Skyjo, Unsolved Case Files and Mahjong.
Trails we liked – Secret Falls, Whiteside Mountain and Dry Falls. Cliffside Lake Trail was near our vrbo.
