July-August trip out west 2025

We took a family trip to see Harrison in Carbondale. Thompson and Kendall couldn’t go because of work. We loved the Airbnb we stayed in. It was a little outside of Glenwood Springs so it was kind of far from everything but we did not mind. We did Turo to rent a car this time and had no problems. It was James and Farris‘s first time to fly. We stopped in Basalt and ate at Mountain heart Brewing for lunch. We had not been at the Airbnb but an hour or two and this was outside our front door.

We met Harrison‘s girlfriend for the first time and ordered out pizza the first night. Beautiful views from our Airbnb.

The next day we went on two short trails. One was Doc Holiday trail to his grave, and the other one was to a sulfur hot spring right off the highway. We ate at slope and hatch in Glenwood Springs for lunch. Delicious. That night was the Carbondale rodeo.

Friday morning we had reservations to do the maroon bells hike. You have to be there before 8 AM to be able to park close by. It is right by Aspen. We packed lunches and went on a nice hike. After that, we went into Aspen to Paradise Café, and got coffee and ice cream. We had dinner at the Colorado steak Company that night. It was delicious and there was a lot going on in Glenwood Springs that night.

The last day we went to Harrison‘s and let the children get on the horse with him and then we went to some small towns nearby. In Redstone, we had lunch on the river at Propaganda pie. We stopped at some river streams, and most of the guys did some cold plunges.

Sunday we went to the village Smithy for a brunch lunch, and then we went to a roping event in Carbondale. After that we went and checked into our hotel in Basalt and ate at the Tempranillo across the street. We left Monday morning and have so many more things we want to do when we go back.
